CAN I BE VULNERABLE?
Black Men & Mental Health
African-American men are over 20% more likely to experience mental illness than the general population.
Some of these factors include; lower rates of health insurance, cultural insensitivities, less access to treatments and other cultural biases.
As mental health and suicide are under-publicized in the African-American community "Can I Be Vulnerable" emerged. As a simple expression of one man's story that has transcended into a docu-series, featuring familiar faces and the everyday man.
The conversation has started, the next step is a plan of action. It's our job to speak up and speak out.
There is work to do, let's connect and build.
